Start with your footage
This is what Beat Cut Assistant looks like when you first open it. Select Choose footage, then choose the video clips you want to use. You can choose a few clips, or choose one folder that holds all of them. Nothing is changed or deleted from your originals.
Example: Choose ten short clips from a birthday party.
Select your clips
In the window that opens, click the video clips you want. You can select more than one at a time, then select Open. Beat Cut Assistant will show how many clips are ready.
Example: Select all the clips from one event, even if some turn out not to be used.
Add music and choose the pace
Select Choose song and pick the song for the finished video. The app finds the song’s pace automatically. This number is called BPM, which simply means beats per minute. For your first edit, you can leave the suggested number and settings alone.
Example: A relaxed song may be around 80 BPM; a fast dance song may be around 120 BPM.
Start the review
When your clips and song are ready, select Start review. You can choose one beat or two beats between cuts. Two beats gives each moment a little more time on screen.
Example: Use two beats if you want viewers to see each moment a little longer.
Keep the moments you like
The app shows a suggested moment from each clip. Watch it, then choose Keep this moment if you like it or Skip if you do not. You can also make the moment a little earlier, later, shorter, or longer. You stay in charge of every decision.
Example: Keep the clip where everyone cheers, and skip a clip that is blurry.
Open your finished rough cut
After you keep at least one moment, select Create Final Cut Pro Edit. Final Cut Pro opens a first version of your video, with your selected clips lined up to the music. From there, you can add titles or make any final changes.
Good to know: If Final Cut Pro does not open it automatically, choose File › Import › XML in Final Cut Pro, then select the file the app created.

What do I need?
Beat Cut Assistant runs on macOS 13.5 or later and works with Final Cut Pro. It creates a rough-cut project for you to refine in Final Cut Pro.
Does it edit my original clips?
No. Your source clips remain unchanged. The app creates an editable Final Cut Pro project that refers to your original media.
My edit is not in Final Cut Pro.
Use File › Import › XML in Final Cut Pro and choose the FCPXML file created by Beat Cut Assistant. Keep the original video files in their original locations.

Effective August 8, 2026. MediaPro Productions, a DBA of Clayton Johnson, publishes Beat Cut Assistant. The app works with the video clips and music files you choose on your Mac to create an FCPXML rough cut. Your media is processed locally on your Mac; the app does not create an account, upload your selected media, or collect analytics about your editing work.
If you email support, we receive the information you choose to send, including your email address and message. We use it only to respond to your request. Apple handles App Store purchases and may process information under its own privacy policy. Questions? Email mediaproproductions@email.com.
Terms of Use
Effective August 8, 2026. Beat Cut Assistant is licensed, not sold, for your personal or internal business editing use. You may not copy, modify, resell, rent, lease, or reverse engineer the app except where law permits. You remain responsible for the media you choose and for having the rights to use it.
The app is provided as-is to help create an editable rough cut; review every resulting project before delivery or publication. To the extent allowed by law, MediaPro Productions is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Purchases and eligible refunds are administered by Apple. These terms do not limit rights that cannot legally be limited.
